Thought for Wednesday 18th May
“As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?””
Jesus asks Saul why he has sought to persecute him. “That is, when Saul attacks the faithful, he actually persecutes Jesus himself! Whenever Christians are harassed and abused, Jesus is most palpably present with the oppressed.” (Doug Bratt)
Reflection: The great Christian writer C S Lewis described his (unexpected) conversion the result of “the steady, unrelenting approach of him whom I so earnestly desired not to meet.”

"Go, then, to all peoples, everywhere... you will be witnesses for me to the ends of the earth."
